2/18/1933: Born on this day, Yoko Ono, Japanese artist, singer, poet, author and peace activist and wife of John Lennon. Yoko moved to New York from Tokyo when she was 14 and first met John Lennon in London in 1966. They married in 1969. As a child, Ono and her family were forced to beg for food while pulling their belongings in a wheelbarrow. It was during this period in her life, Ono says, that she developed her “aggressive” attitude and understanding of “outsider” status when children taunted her.
