5. The Captain of Milwaukee’s Hometown Morning show. Some days he’s Captain Kirk; other days? Blackbeard.
4. Has been hosting the morning show on 96-5 since February 13, 1984. Ronald Reagan was President; Think about it.
3. Because he went to Catholic school (K thru 12) and to a Catholic college (University of Dayton) Dave notices things like who has the best Ash mark on Ash Wednesday, knows about ‘Pagan babies’ and also knows what the phrase, ‘Leave room for the Holy Spirit’ means
2. His grandparents were from Poland (Dad) and Italy (Mom) so he’s heard every ethnic joke ever told. Has laughed at most of them.
1. He and wife, Cindy, have 3 kids and 6 grandchildren. Loves his kids (and their spouses) but REALLY loves his grandkids.

John McGivern

John is the third born of six kids in a working-class Irish Catholic Family on Milwaukee’s East Side.

Best known for his Emmy-award winning work on TV and his one-man stage shows. His stories are personal, funny, touching and familiar. His themes are based in family and remind us all that as specific as we might believe our experiences are, we all share a universal human experience.

John spent nine seasons on PBS with his weekly series Around The Corner with John McGivern. His new show, John McGivern’s Main Streets , can be seen in 30 cities across the Midwest (including Fox 6 on Sunday mornings at 10).
