Jack White has been named the honorary dean of a music school in Mexico City.

The former White Stripes star made a surprise appearance at the Fermatta Music Academy last month and spoke candidly about how music touched and inspired him.

He was given a lifetime achievement award by school officials at the ceremony and now he has become the first musician to be awarded the Honorary Dean title in the history of the Academy, according to RollingStone.com.
