Man arrested on drug, burglary charges claims to be Scott Weiland

Former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver star Scott Weiland made headlines this week but not for his music.

According to multiple news outlets, including TMZ, Weiland spent the past four weeks behind bars following a July 26 arrest for methamphetamine possession.

The rocker, who has battled drug issues for years, was incorrectly named by the Beverly Hills Police Department after a man claiming to be Weiland was arrested for fleeing a store with a bag of razors he didn’t pay for.

Officers stopped the man, who has since been identified as Jason Michael Hurley, after a Beverly Hills store reported the crime. Police came across the meth as they searched him for other stolen items.

Hurley, 44, had been claiming to be Weiland for the last four weeks. His lie was discovered late on Thursday when the BHPD received a fingerprint match from the FBI, and released a “Celebrity Arrest Corrected Information” press release, according to Us Weekly.

Hurley has been charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and burglary. According to E News, police plan to add a charge of providing false information.

Hurley is still behind bars and bail has been set at $95,000. Weiland is most definitely not in jail, nor was he ever.
