NEW YORK (AP) — Beyoncé has a new album out today exclusively on iTunes.

And we know that because — she said so herself. Avoiding the process where an artist’s label announces the release date for a new album, provides advance copies for review and has the artist do a series of interviews and appearances to promote it, Beyoncé went directly to the public with word her album was being released for sale today.

It features 14 new songs and 17 videos shot in various locations around the world. One of the songs, “Blue” features shots of the singer with her daughter, Blue Ivy.

Beyoncé says she dropped the album the day she announced it because she wanted to speak directly to her fans — since, as she put it, “there’s so much that gets between the music, the artist and the fans.”
